Teaching Place Value
This masterclass will focus on how we can teach place value in a way that children can understand. We will begin by looking at our number system and the 8 counting principles before moving on to focus on place value.

- An understanding of the place value and why so many children struggle with place value
- Knowledge of how to use ten frames to support understanding of place value
- Exploration of the use of the Gattegno chart as a model for understanding place value
- Knowledge of how to use base ten materials

Judy is an educational consultant specialising in Maths and learners with dyscalculia and dyslexia. Her teaching career started in primary schools before she moved into teaching children with special needs. Judy delivers key notes, workshops and training in Dyscalculia, Dyslexia and Maths Mastery across the world, including New Zealand, Australia and Dubai. Judy co-founded the Dyscalculia Association in the UK in 2018.
